New Lions Club Roars into Bradford City
After an absence of more than ten years a new Lions Club was formed and Chartered in Bradford on 1st June 2013.
The New club – Bradford Central Lions Club (CIO) is part of the world’s largest service organisation – Lions Clubs International.
Charter President Lion Amin Dada who recently moved to Bradford from London identified a need for a Club in Bradford to serve the local community and immediately started working on it.
Four meetings were held where interested individuals were invited and finally a decision was made to form Bradford Central Lions Club (CIO). So far 44 young men and women from different faiths and walks of life across the City have become members.
Since the publicity in local newspapers some more people have shown interest in joining the Club. Bradford Lions are already working in partnership with local charity, “In Touch Foundation” and are supporting the soup kitchen which feeds the homeless every Monday and Wednesday in Bradford and the surrounding area.
The Deputy Lord Mayor, Councillor Joanne Dodds, District Governor, Lion Ken Wild and other distinguished Lions from the District 105C and 105A were present at the Cedar Court Hotel when past Global Membership Team Chairman (105A) Lion Kumar Acharya acted as Master of Ceremonies and also administered the obligation to all Charter members.
Charter President, Lion Amin Dada commented: I am sure with so many enthusiastic, young and professional members our Club will truly uphold our motto, “We Serve” by practicing the ethos of our organization that we are….Ordinary People Doing Amazing Things.
Bradford Central Lions meet on the first Monday of the month at Anam’s Restaurant in Great Horton Road, Bradford BD7 at 7.30pm.
